Doreen Mueni, b. 1996, is a Kenyan painter, mental health advocate and feminist, who is exploring and advancing portrait and figurative painting with the intent of glorifying her imaginary subjects. By using oil and acrylic paints on canvas, she remarkably captures the beauty, strength and femininity in black women, who are mostly her subjects. To achieve the visually appealing textural modern style, she employs chiaroscuro and neurographic patterns.
She’s currently a member of Mukuru Artist Collective, South B, Nairobi.
