OUR STORY

TewasArt Africa is an online publishing platform supported by TewasArt Gallery, an online art gallery under TEWASART AND PATRONS, a dynamic online platform and arts consultancy, based in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 2019 by Kenyan independent curator Thaddeus M Wamukoya also known as Thadde Tewa.

With support from our ever-growing network, including local and international artists, curators, and patrons. Our mission is to support, inspire, and invest in the growth of contemporary art from East Africa and its emerging artists.

TEWASART AND PATRONS are focused on highlighting and promoting contemporary art from East Africa through organizing pop-up exhibitions, writing, and contributing to artistic dialogues, and publications. Our publications focus on connecting our artists’ modern, unconventional, and diverse ideas to a broader audience. Our stories strive to create and open a map of East African contemporary art, and the artist’s journey.

In its short history, TewasArt Gallery has become a thriving online platform, facilitating necessary critical engagement with the local and mainstream art markets.
