Wafa Salah (b. 1994, Sudanese) received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Sudan University College of Fine and Applied Arts – Painting Department in 2014. Her work explores figurative and abstract compositions drawn from nature and her environment.
Combining design elements and patterns from her immediate surroundings, linocut printing technique, and acrylic on paper or canvas, she records or recreates scenes that could apply anywhere in the world but in an African context. She believes the scenes or events in any time, society, or world reoccur in different times, societies, or worlds; but in a different context. Meaning that any event that happens to her or around her, it’s probably happening or has happened before in another place or time, maybe in a different order but with the same or different elements and characters. She lives and works between Khartoum, Sudan, and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
